The purpose of this book is to get into printed form data and information accumulated over forty years by several persons interested in the genealogy of those having the name Layne.
26 Family Groups are provided throughout. Each group, at the time this book was first published, represents a living family with the name Layne.
Also included are family trees for each group which are made up of the reference numbers of each individual in the group.

This is the first of two books by Floyd Benjamin Layne dedicated to the Layne family history. In the beginning we are presented with a nice and thorough overview of how, when, and where the family came to America. Afterwards, you can find very detailed genealogical information for each family group within its pages. Each group to be featured in this book also comes with a photo of the Head Of The Household which is nice to have. Add an index at the end that allows for quickly looking up any name in the book, and you have a winner!
Highly recommended for anyone doing research on their family history!
I'm just haviing trouble decifering my family. Not easy to go through and find where my family begins

Obviously not of interest to everyone, but this helped me trace my ancestors back to the 1620s and fed my white liberal guilt by confirming that at least a couple of them owned slaves and a bunch of them fought for the Confederacy. So there's that.
